The Advanced Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling allows individuals to acquire professional and personal life skills in the psycho-spiritual area, within a supportive and creative environment. These programs are aimed at cultivation of the person and community and to foster the creative development of ideas and human potential. Many people undertake these counselling courses for personal development and for life transition.
What is Transpersonal Counselling?
The Transpersonal approach deals with all of the common human problems that professionals encounter.
The goal of healing is not to adjust to the prevailing society but to touch and embrace in daily life that state which has been called liberation, enlightenment, individuation, self-realisation or gnosis. In psychological terms, it means revealing the true self.
Transpersonal is a path to self-realisation. We are shown how to unlock the hidden dimensions of ourselves, and use these dimensions to:
o Find and create our life story;
o And through this story, find meaning, purpose and direction in our life.
o Heal ourselves and others;
o Reach our full potential;
o Understand the nature of the universe and our place in it
We explore these dimensions using a range of healing techniques and states of consciousness that expand our awareness and vision.
Healing techniques include:
o Meditation, movement, art
o Rituals and ceremonies;
o States of consciousness that mobilize our healing abilities; and
o Symbols and myth.
Why is transpersonal work important?
Transpersonal work provides people in crises with an alternative to symptom suppression. It helps them to creatively adapt to their crisis, using the experience to grow and truly heal. The experience is transformed into a breakthrough rather than breakdown.
Phoenix’s Advanced Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling and the Advanced Diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy qualifications are also accepted as one year's credit transfer to Phoenix's three year Bachelor of Holistic Counselling.
"I have been in Private Practice as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist along with facilitation of numerous workshops, groups and lectures for women and couples
on sensuality and feminine energy work for 5 years. When I came to study at Phoenix Institute, I undertook the Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling because I wanted to further my understanding of the soul’s journey within a prof ess ional and academic setting. I certainly found that, and more. While grounded in
sound practical theory, within each Module is also (and importantly for me) a rich world of psychospiritual techniques , which are often overlooked or just ‘touched on’ in more traditional counselling schools.
This also allowed for my own personal journey to progress and transform as deep insights and learning emerged during the course. Thirteen years on I have incorporated many of the invaluable techniques learned, in my ongoing healing work with clients, in group and workshop settings."
